Mother abandons new born baby at SMGS Hospital

JAMMU, JANUARY 23: A new born female baby was abandoned today by her mother here in labour room of Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital.
According to the reports, a lady, who has been identified as Lalita wife of Madan Lal of Reasi, as per her hospital file, gave birth to a healthy female baby in labour room on Thursday night, after few fours of her admission in the hospital. The lady left her new born baby in the labour room by giving slip to the staff members of the hospital.
According to Medical Superintendent, SMGS, Dr Dara Singh, the baby has been shifted to Neonatal ICU of the hospital and proper care is being given to her.
“We have informed the police and they are trying to trace the lady and her whereabouts. The hospital will bear the cost on her care till the heirs of the baby are traced”, he added.
When contacted, the Incharge, Police Post, SI Wasim, said they are trying to trace the lady as per the address mentioned by her on her hospital admission file but till now they did not get any clue about the lady.
